Mattel’s new Barbie comes with over 40 tattoos, a stamper and stickers. Reaction seems to be mixed with some parents saying that it’s just a sign of our times and others saying that no way would they let their daughters play with that.
As for me, I grew up playing with Barbies but have avoided them for my girls (though they have received a few as gifts). I’m probably being terrible old fashioned here but I like to see little girls just be little girls and play with dolls like American Girl or baby dolls. They will have to face our over sexualized culture soon enough. Products like this make this mom’s heart hurt.
