You want to take the family away on vacation, but the groans from your teenagers at the thought, is already making your toes curl. Is it possible to take a family vacation with just teens, or a wide age range of children, and make everyone happy? Yes!
Bet that surprises you, doesn’t it? But it’s true. More and more facilities and tourist destinations are gearing their attractions to appeal to families as a whole, and not just a given age group.
Winter vacations may mean sitting by the fire with cocoa and a book for Mom, but if you plan to vacation near a ski resort that also has snowboarding, skating, and guide conducted snowshoe trekking, you’re going to keep the “tweens” and teens happy, too.
Summer trips can mean a resort in the Poconos, or elsewhere as your home base. Research them in advance to see what kind of activities are offered. Many have their own associated theme parks, and sports activities for all ages, as well as social events suitable for teens responsible enough to attend on their own. Giving teens some freedom during the vacation can be a treat in itself!
Are you looking at a cruise for the family? Check out the teen-oriented facilities. Some cruise lines have created teen only clubs for the 15-17 age group, and run programs that cover a wide range of topics for younger teens. Plus, there are a wealth of sports activities from basketball to pool surfing, and on one line, even rock climbing.
