WW Confession Time

I skipped my WW meeting last Thursday.  I was all caught up in Moms Affiliate Expo and just felt like I needed a little downtime more than I needed to drive into Lansing for the meeting.  My sis was having a busy day too so she wasn’t sad to let it go.

The last thing I said to her was ‘Don’t worry – I’ll still be good!‘.

Ha!

Friday night...pizza nightI was doing fine – until we spent five hours in the ER with Sean’s sore eye which turned out to be a damaged cornea – no wonder he was in so much pain :(   On the way home I picked up McDonald’s for breakfast – which is terribly high in points.

Then we spent part of the weekend taking care of my nieces babies and daughter.  For some reason I could not keep out of the kitchen.  I had shopped for WW friendly foods and snacks to take with us so that I wouldn’t be tempted to cheat – but even though all my snacking was on ‘low fat’ foods, I way over did it.

To make matters worse – on Sunday afternoon we ordered pizza.  *sigh* [Read more...]

Two More Pounds Lost: Baby Steps I Will Learn To Love

I weighed in this evening and celebrated another two pound loss.  This brings my total loss to seventeen pounds and two ounces.

Oh it is hard to celebrate one pound and two pound losses – I wish I could see five pound losses each and every week!  How fast the extra weight would melt away then!

Ah… but I have to be patient and be glad that even at one or two pounds per week – I am shrinking.

So let me report:  I feel pretty darned good.  I can feel the change in how my clothing fits – especially my intimates.

I have been doing well with Weight Watchers.  I am still recording every bite and don’t plan to stop that.  Keeping a close eye on my points helps me to manage my nibbling tendencies.

I survived a birthday party, enjoying a small piece of divine chocolate cake without frosting.  (Don’t feel bad for me – I didn’t mind it at all.)

I used my Flex Points this week for a yummy visit to the Chinese Buffet.  Two Crab Rangoon, two largish chunks of Sesame Chicken plus some white rice, a spring roll and a half dozen friend shrimp made my tummy most happy and I left pleasantly satisfied rather than overfull.  (You wouldn’t want to know what a visit to the buffet would have looked like before… LOL!)

Fighting the Mental Battle of the Bulge

I’m in week number five of Weight Watchers.  As is true to form for me and diets of any kind, around this time I start to get negative about my progress and try to justify cheating in some bizarre way that will let me go order a big meal from KFC.

I’m pleased to report that I didn’t give into that old urge that struck yesterday.  I held tight to my goals and stuck to the program if only by the skin of my teeth.

One of our Weight Watcher’s leaders says ‘You bite it, you write it!’ and that has really helped me to stay mindful of the things I munch on through the day.  There hasn’t been one single item through my lips that didn’t end up in the little weekly journal that WW provides.

It also helps that I am shopping once a week and stocking the cupboards and fridge with healthy foods and snacks that are low in points.  I actually do this weekly shopping right after my weekly WW meeting, when my will power is strong.  It is good that I am staying out of the grocery store in between shopping trips.  I’m concerned that I’d be tempted if I went more often.

My next weigh in is in 48 hours.  I am really looking forward to seeing the gain from last week’s bloat gone as well as some fresh loss.  I ‘feel’ like I’m doing well – and that should be enough – but it isn’t.  I want to see the hard numbers!

I’ll post an update when I can :)

Weight Loss Update: Darned Backstroke!

I had a feeling this morning when I woke up that I might not have a happy weigh in today.  It’s coming up on ‘that time of the month’ and I feel puffy.

Sure enough, the scale said I had put 2.4 pounds back on.  (The exact amount I lost last week.)

I know it’s just period bloat.  I have followed the program perfectly and have even upped my activity level.  One of the Weight Watcher’s leaders said that she can count on a three pound gain at that time of the month like clockwork.  I’m not going to get in the dumps about it.

My sis lost another two pounds. Yay Sis!

Weight Loss Update: Another Two Pounds Lost

I have to admit that losing 2.4 pounds isn’t nearly as exciting as losing 4.4 and 7 like my previous weeks, but I knew it was normal to settle into a one or two pound weekly loss so I’m not disappointed.

This brings my total loss up to 13.8 after three complete weeks on the Weight Watchers Flex Plan.  Not bad!

I’ve found some great low point meal ideas that I’m enjoying.  My appetite has really come down which is a relief.  I don’t spend most of the day trying to figure out how get more food in my belly.

I’ve been on two good walks this week.  Sean has been nice enough to walk along with me for the promise of a soft serve ice cream cone midway through.  I know that a walk with an ice cream reward seems to cancel each other out but don’t worry – I’m not exceeding my points allowance!
