I heard on the radio last week that “The Wiggles” are coming to my town, Austin, the second weekend of August. Unfortunately, my family is going to be out of town that weekend, so I’m totally bummed that I won’t get to see Mr. Blue Wiggle, Anthony, in the flesh, because I have a bit of a “mom crush” on him.
But it got me thinking. My son just turned two and he’s starting to show that he’s capable of paying attention to something for more than 5 seconds. Why not try to take him to a live show this summer and see how he likes it, even if he can’t see his favorite (and my favorite – wink, wink), “The Wiggles”?
I checked Ticketmaster, and there are a ton of family friendly shows scouring the U.S. this summer, so I thought I’d share a few with you:
- The Wiggles Go Bananas
- Walking With Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular
- Dora The Explorer Live
- New Disney Live
- Thomas and Friends Live! On stage: A Circus Comes to Town
- Bob the Builder Live
- UniverSoul Circus
- Sesame Street Live: Elmo’s Green Thumb
- Mary Poppins
Be sure to check if your favorite, I mean your child’s favorite, is coming to a town near you. And if you want the full list of family friendly shows, go to Ticketmaster online.

Last year we went to Disney’s Princesses on Ice – and it was SO GREAT! My 3 year old loved it – felt like a princess – loved the show – got cute (although pricey) souvenirs – it was a great time for us to have together. Great suggestion!!! Even just one show a summer can make some wonderful memories!

I know the shows are a bit pricey, but it is really something to look forward to for the whole family. Some of my favorite memories are of going to plays and musicals with my Mother and Grandma. I love the arts!

I would love to got to any of these with my kids but they are soo expensive! I tried to win tickets to Disney on ice earlier this year. I didn’t win.

I know they’re expensive, but once in awhile is fine. Some of my best memories are of going to plays and musicals with my Mom and Grandma.

We totally love going to kid shows like these – thanks for the reminder! As you mentioned, some of my best memories growing up were going to Disney on Ice with my parents. We try to do things like take our own surprise glowing/flashing/spinning toys or themed stuffed animals instead of buying them there, or go out to an inexpensive meal before or after instead of loading up on snacks and drinks there.
