MySpace is not just for socializing anymore. It has become the latest way to market your business for free. While you’re at it, you get the benefits of joining a large community of consumers.

When people think of sites like YouTube and MySpace, they think of teenagers and college students. They imagine kids updating profiles and enhancing their dating skills online. These sites have so much more potential than just a teenage hangout spot.

Teens are not the only ones who use these social networking websites. Adults with jobs use them too. These websites represent microcosms of consumers who may be interested in your business.

MySpace is free to join. The way to start is to set up a profile. MySpace offers tools to enhance your profile to look just the way you want it to.

Use your profile page to tell a little about yourself and your business. Potential consumers will want to know what makes you qualified to sell your product. You can mention your experience and how long you have been in business.

Your MySpace page should contain content. This content should be about subjects related to the business. If you want people to return to your page day after day, you will need something catchy to keep them coming back.

The content should offer a solution to a problem the visitor may have. Show them you understand their issue and explain how your product or article can help. When you hit a record high sales mark for the month, post content about it. If people know that your business is doing well, they will be more likely to buy from you.

MySpace also allows you to do a bit of demographic research. They allow you to target segments of the online population by zip code. If your product is regional or climate based, like ski equipment or hunting gear, you will want to reach those whose geographic location would benefit your business.

Keeping people interested is a marketing must. In this regard, all social networking sites are the same. You must continually update your page. Fresh content and business offers will keep customers coming back for more. Surveys will allow you to gauge how well you are reaching your target audience on the site.

Social networking is the wave of the future. Check out MySpace and see what they have to offer. As a marketing tool, you can’t ask for better than free advertising.
