Did you know the first Father’s Day was celebrated in 1908? Father’s Day was recognized by a Joint Resolution of Congress in 1956 and finally declared as a permanent national observance on the third Sunday of June by Richard Nixon in 1972.

Have you started planning for Father’s Day? What makes for a perfect day for the Father in your life? Your favorite Dad probably isn’t concerned about what you actually do on Father’s Day as long as he’s with his favorite people- you and the family!

But to get started with planning, you may want to think about what he enjoys, what makes for an enjoyable day for the Dad in your family. Does he love to grill, go fishing/hunting, or watching sports on TV? Is he a golfer? Does he enjoy playing board games or a hand of cards? Perhaps he likes to play games on a gaming console?

Would he like to spend part of the day with his dad? Would he like to have the night alone with you? Is there a movie that he’s wanted to see? What are his favorite foods?

Look for my next post for some ideas for Father’s Day. In the mean time begin thinking about the answers to some of these questions. What other questions would be good to think about on Father’s Day?
