moms-talk-ebooks-organizing-smI’ve always been a bit of a scatterbrained, disorganized person.  I used to get away with it before I became a mom, because I could always claim that I was an engineer by training, and everyone knows engineers are organizationally-challenged.

But, now that I’m a SAHM, it’s just plain pathetic and embarrassing.  And with another baby on the way, I need to get my act together.

I recently read the e-book, Mom’s Talk Guide to Organizing Your Life and Finding More Time, and it has tons of great information on how to get myself and my home organized.

What I love about this book:

  • It’s a quick read for busy moms and chock full of useful tips
  • It starts with the basics (which I need!) on how to proactively manage your life including showing you how to coordinate errands, create a family calendar, and make a meal plan.
  • It lists creative ideas on how to remember the items on your “To Do” list.  A huge problem for me, actually.
  • It provides fun ways to get the entire family involved in organizing the house and keeping it that way.
  • It takes you room by room in your home, including high clutter areas like closets, children’s rooms, and the garage, and helps you get rid of clutter and organize it in a way that Martha Stewart would be proud.

The fact that it takes you room by room is my absolute favorite part of the book, because it will help me to organize my home step-by-step so I won’t get overwhelmed with the HUGE task at hand.  I know myself; if I make a ton of changes all at once, they won’t stick.  It’s all about taking it one step at a time and sticking to it.

If you’re an organizationally-challenged mom like me, I encourage you to check out the Mom’s Talk Guide to Organizing Your Life and Finding More Time. You and your family will be glad you did!

Yep – this is a really great book. I’ve got it hole punched in one of my binders and I’m taking it pieces at a time to get myself together. I’m a scatterbrained person with too many lists – but I’ve been working to get myself to one list and working from it on a more daily basis. I love freestyle and spontaneous living – not rigid or structured – but as a mom that doesn’t work as well. =) I need to incorporate order while maintaining some flexibility – and this book is getting me started!
