As a mom in my 40s, I wanted to find intriging blogs by middle-aged moms this week. While some moms identify themselves as middle-aged or boomers, the new and improved term is midlife. I like it.
Womenbloom.com talks about going home again to be with her elderly parents. And how the smells, pictures, and feeling of being back in a childhood home bring up memories. Yet, can also make you feel 18. Her posts ring true and her web site is beautifully designed.
Simplyforties is another thoughtful blogger. Let’s see? What are the latest environmental crises we hear about and how do we respond? Lead in lipstick, plastic bottles contain harmful particles, pesticides in cotton, and now even cashmere has environmental risks. Simply Forties has some wonderfully introspective posts about the environment and issues that midlife moms and women are facing or might be facing. For example, I didn’t know that many women may end up single again in midlife.
As I puzzle over Twitter and how to use the thing effectively, and wonder why 20-somethings with marketing names are starting to follow me, here is one grandma/boomer mom who shares Twitter know-how, and helpful info for mom bloggers. Moomettegram’s musing blog also has a great interview with a blogger who discusses safe blogging practices and privacy issues. I recommend her site for WAHMs and WAHGs (Work at Home Grandmas).
The Frugal Duchess suggests doing a financial spring cleaning of your finances. Roll up your sleeves and follow her sensible, straightforward plan. We really do need to check credit card interest rates and do a bit of financial housecleaning, including looking at our 401k and retirement savings plans.
Frumpy middle-aged mom would rather take a nap than use her spa gift cards. I think I’d opt for the spa and then fall asleep in the chair. Give me a facial, but don’t wake me, please.
Don’t you get just a ittle nervous that everything you’re doing for your kids may be too much or not enough? We’re called helicopter parents because we like to hover, but there’s an upside to being that way.
I thought this would be a serious post about how to come up with a bucket list for midlife moms, but these two have the best bucket list ever! If you had a month left to live, what would you do? I’m going with ‘em to Florence and New Zealand. And I don’t want to bungee jump either. And they call their own mother “the Ancient One.”

Thanks for the linky luv! Delighted to be included in this fine group of middle-age wonders! Always happy to share any wisdom I’ve learned in the school of life !
