Ever since my freshman year in college, I’ve been hooked on Jamba Juice smoothies. I actually went to college in San Luis Obispo, California where the original Jamba Juice was created. It was called Juice Club back then, and didn’t have the cool swirly logo, but the smoothies were just as good.
A few years ago I had to give up my precious Jamba Juice, though. Because I’m a vegetarian, when I became pregnant with my son I started worrying about how much protein I was getting on a daily basis. I decided to stop eating out so I could calculate the protein content in my food, but I HATED having to give up my smoothie addiction.
So I decided to start experimenting on my own with my trusty blender. I quickly learned that less is more when it comes to smoothies, and came up with my favorite concoction:
The Jamba Juice Ain’t Got Nuthin’ on Me Smoothie
1/2 banana
1 cup milk or soy milk
½ cup orange juice
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
protein powder(based on package instructions)
Mix all ingredients well in the blender and serve.
I’ve also added other ingredients from time to time: frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries), cherries, peaches, peanut butter, and chocolate milk/soy milk. All taste great! Just experiement to your heart’s delight. But, remember, less is more when it comes to smoothies.
I’ve since introduced this daily smoothie tradition to my husband and son and they both complain loudly if they don’t get their daily smoothie fix. And if by chance we can’t have smoothies for a few days, inevitably someone gets sick. So they are definitely the key to keeping my family healthy.
It’s such an easy and fun way to get your family to start the day right, so get those blenders revvin’, moms, and show Jamba Juice whatcha got!

I will have to try your recipe! I would love to have a smoothie every day. Yummy!

Seriously try it for a week and see how you feel! I always feel so much better with a smoothie a day. I’ve just started adding in cranberry juice, and an extra 1/2 cup of orange juice, for an extra kick. Yum!
