If your child has chosen the college route, here is a unique approach that will help you save time and money in earning his or her bachelor’s degree through distance learning from an accredited institution.
High school students can start earning college credits while in high school. Some even earn their college degree by the time they graduate high school.
Students are getting dual credit by taking CLEP (College Level Examination Program) and other exams to turn their high school courses into college credit.
There are two groups that I know of that are helping these high school students. One is a paid coaching program. The other is a website with free lesson plans and an online community to share experiences.
The paid coaching program is CollegePlus! You have a coach assigned to your student. They meet every 2 weeks to guide your student in what to study and what tests to take. You have the option to stay with the program until the student earns his bachelor’s degree or end the coaching program and continue on his own.
Here is a video about CollegePlus!
If you can’t afford CollegePlus!, then you should try ClepPrep. It is free and is similar to CollegePlus but you are not paying for a coach. Their website has lessons plans available so your student can go through them on his own at his own pace. You can join their ClepPrep Yahoo group to ask questions or share your experiences.
These programs aren’t just for high school students. This also applies to adults and professionals, too!

Mimi, thank you SO much for sharing this. We are right on the brink of high school in our homeschooling efforts. I knew about College Plus but not about Clep Prep. I will check this out. Have any of your kids used CLEP to receive college credit? I'd love to hear about your experiences with this.
