Girls Weekend: The Perfect Antidote

If you’ve been reading my 48 Days to a Better Me posts you know that it was focused largely on losing weight and getting ready for a special Girls Weekend with friends I haven’t seen much since I moved away from Gaylord two years ago. I wanted to look my best and be ready to really relax and let go for a couple of days.

The Girls Weekend we planned didn’t turn out to be the Girls Weekend we ended up with – what was to be a group of eleven ended up being a tight group of four – but I am not complaining. I had such a GREAT time with my closest girlfriends and my sister that I think that it is exactly what we all needed.

beckieWe all converged on my sister’s home Friday around five – and after greetings and hugs – it felt like we hadn’t been apart at all! I love friendships like that, don’t you?

My sister made us a delicious Chicken Cordon Blue Lasagna and I prepared special bread dipping oil for our fresh hot bread. (After almost two weeks of Adkins dieting, I was in carb heaven!) As soon as dinner was over we decided we were in dire need of a long walk – so we decided to head out to my town to see the babies and take them for a nice walk. It was really fun introducing my friends to our little sweethearts :)

We wrapped up the night with my sister’s yummy pineapple cheesecake dessert and a Chonda Peirce video. (This is my sis!)

Saturday we slept in, enjoyed a yummy breakfast and slowly got around and ready for our shopping day. I don’t know where the time goes sometimes – we didn’t leave until almost one o’clock! We hit two Goodwill stores, a craft store and a bookstore – fitting in an amazing lunch at Olga’s Kitchen too.

For four busy women – this is just the sort of day the doctor ordered. Do these beautiful women look the least bit stressed out? (Meet Sandra and Sue!)

Back home we went – and sent Sandra and Sue off to their appointment at the hot tub rental place. My sister and I chilled out and caught up on family talk – then later, I made us all Panini sandwiches for dinner and we all talked late into the night.

Sue opened a Dove Chocolate and found this message inside: Dove + Friends + Shopping = Perfect Day. Isn’t that great?

The weekend ended too soon – they had to get on the road back to their families and I’m already missing them!

If you haven’t had a good old fashioned, eat, talk and shop Girls Weekend lately – I totally recommend it :)

So glad to hear that you had a great time. Sometimes us mommies just need that- time off to chat, have fun and do girlie things. I miss that about my teenage years. Hardly do that anymore.
Anyhoos- I’m happy to see that you had fun!
    Blessings,
    Eren

It is so nice to take time out for yourself. As nurturing women, we usually put everyone elses needs before our own. Time out with the girls helps us to reconnect and rejuvenate. So glad you had the time to do something for you and your girlfriends. Sounds like a fun time. ;)
