Perfume, scarves, gloves or bath and body products are all good gifts to give single moms. However if you really want to score points this year, consider giving your favorite single mom gifts that she would love to have but would not likely ever get for herself.
Gift certificates for services are wonderful. I’m talking about gift certificates for spring yard clean up, car wash coupons, 2 hours of handy-man services, painting services, electricians, mechanics, plumbing services, computer repair or snow shoveling. These are all tasks that many single moms have either learned and tolerate doing herself but would rather not have to perform, can’t afford to hire out or simply don’t have the time or desire to complete.
It’s not uncommon for female head of households to have a hard time asking for help. It’s often easier just to do it yourself or decide it’s really not a big priority and she can just use duct tape for now and it’ll hold another few years.
You may think that you’re giving mom a wonderful gift if you give her a gift certificate for a manicure, massage, and pedicure or babysitting coupons. It’s a wonderful thought. Yet many single moms in my circle would much rather prefer a gift of service for something that really needs to be done for the home or the family and would free her up to do other more pressing or desirable tasks.
