This is Part 3 of our Father’s Day series.
Getting ready for Father’s Day doesn’t have to be done by Mom alone. Enlist the help of other family members to think of some unique gift ideas. Have the kids make him a homemade card. If he wakes up before breakfast is ready, the kids could give him their homemade card at that time. Otherwise they could give it to him after breakfast is done.
If Dad likes to go fishing yet doesn’t have his own boat, why not rent a boat to take him fishing? The warm June afternoon could be spent relaxing on the water with fishing lines in the water. Even if you don’t catch any fish, he will appreciate the time that was spent with him doing one of his favorite activities.
If the father in your life loves to grill, consider making a special barbeque apron with the kids. All you need is a plain apron, craft paint or fabric markers to decorate it with your child’s hand prints or original drawing. You could also add a fun saying on it like “King of the Grill”, “STAND BACK Dad is Cooking!” or my favorite “Who said they liked theirs burnt?” Brainstorm with the family for some things Dad usually says while grilling and add those to the apron.
Your children may be able to think of some better ideas for homemade gifts for Dad. And even though getting Dad a homemade gift is always a great idea, after he gets spoiled all day long, he may not even notice if don’t get him a gift. Take your time planning for a Father’s Day he’ll remember for years to come!
I’d love to hear what you’re planning for Dad! Share your gift ideas in the comment section below.
