Have any of you tried Geocaching?

Geocaching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure using GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to locate the geocache.
Our family got involved in geocaching a year or two ago. We went camping and a friend of ours told us about several geocaches around the campgrounds. Our children found as many as they could during that camping trip. They enjoyed it so much that we started looking for them around our place.
What’s so intriguing is some of the caches have puzzles to solve or have multiple stage caches so it can take a while to find the final destination of a cache.
Soon we started traveling around our surrounding areas looking for caches. When we accompanied my husband on a business trip to Orlando, Florida, we couldn’t afford to go to Disney World with our whole family. Instead, we went geocaching around the area. We got to see parts of Florida that not too many tourists get to see. Some of the caches are located in historical areas so you can learn a lot about the area.
When we last checked, there were over 800,000 caches all over the world. You’ll be surprised at where some of these are hidden.
So next time you visit a new area, go Geocaching!

We have never tried geocaching but we have done letterboxing. These are both great hobbies and can really be a fun way to study history and geography.

So excited that you posted about geocaching! I've always wondered what it was and how it was done! Thanks for the info!

Good, I don't feel like an idiot now! I too didn't know what geocaching was and always wondered! Thanks!
Mimi, thanks for posting this! My brother in-laws both do this with their families and they love it! I keep thinking I'll do it with my family because my boys are at the perfect age to enjoy it. It's a fun and frugal activity for the family – I love it!
