CBC Continued: LaTara Asks What Has Been My Biggest Struggle
July 1, 2009 by Erin Hill
LaTara from Mom Unplugged really put my mind at ease after reading her answers to my questions about finding balance. She had some great tips on time management and finding balance that I’m currently trying to implement in my life.
She also responded with a few tough questions for me:
In your transition from SAHM to WAHM, what has been your biggest struggle? What can you apply to your life to help you combat this struggle?
I’ve been struggling with time management as shown by my previous questions, as well as dealing with change (which has never been my strong suit), but my biggest struggle has been maintaining confidence in myself.
My goal is to help support my family with my writing, and the first step I’ve taken is creating a blog. But, writing is intensely personal to me, and sharing my thoughts and opinions in this format is difficult for me. I’m continually questioning myself: Am I a good enough writer? Do I really have anything important to say? Will readers judge me without knowing my whole story? Will readers find my posts helpful and inspiring, or will they think I’m totally lame and full of myself?
I just wrote a post saying “I still have so many fears to conquer.” Maybe that’s the wrong way to look at it. Maybe it’s not about conquering my fears, but facing my fears. I believe fear shines a light on areas in our lives that need attention to help us grow.
All of my fears point to the need for self acceptance. What can I apply in my life to help combat this struggle? Very good question and I don’t have a good answer for you. But knowing that I may be helping others in doing this has helped me in my struggle to face my fears and move toward self acceptance.
And I think other moms can relate. Aren’t we all worried at some point that we aren’t good enough moms? That people will judge us as being a “bad mom”? And that’s why I’m doing this. If I can help one woman feel comfortable in herself and her abilities as a mom, then putting myself “out there” is worth it.
Ok, I have one last question for you LaTara (Yep! – only one). What are your goals for your businesses and your blogs?
Thanks, LaTara. I look forward to reading your answer at Mom Unplugged!
