Blogging Organization

Rosie the BloggerI’ve never been one to be terribly organized about blogging. In the beginning, my personal blog was intended to be a journal of my experiences as a mom. My whole “The Queen Mommy” thing evolved from my bossy nature (since I became a big sister), the meaning of my name (which is “honeybee”), and the incredible emotions that came along with new motherhood.

Recently, I started branching out. I worked full-time outside of our home until May of this year. As much as I wanted to stay home with my girls, the adjustment has been more difficult than I expected. I am NOT so disciplined as to keep a schedule myself – but will if one is imposed on me – so I am learning as I go and getting better… And my girls along with me.

Motrin Moms: Social Media Hysteria

I must be the hardest to offend mom on earth because I just can’t find the big hairy deal with this commercial.

When I read the first few comments about the ‘anti-baby wearing’ commercial being run by Motrin I clicked through ready to be sufficiently outraged – only to discover that there was nothing at all there to get riled up about.

A lot of the things said with an obvious tongue in cheek tone is expressing the true perspective of a lot of moms I know.

Some moms do feel back pain when wearing a baby sling – and sure, maybe they did wear it wrong but come on – give them a break.

Some moms who don’t embrace baby wearing and other attached mama habits do feel like they’ve been denied the ‘official mom’ label by those who do.  And you know it’s true!

Some moms do feel tired and crazy a lot of the time.  Goodness, it woudn’t be at all hard to create a quick blog and twitter tour to prove that.

Why – if all this is so obvious – have so many gotten all up in arms about the commercial saying so?

In my opinion, the text of the commercial seems to been taken purposefully out of context and amplified unfairly.  Motrin hasn’t attacked baby wearing in any way.

Poor Motrin… victim of social media hysteria.

Moms Get “Homeschooled” Too!

This post was written by Tracy Zdelar Hall of Fame Affiliates.

I have to say, I don’t know that I EVER thought of it in those terms, but…I’m being “homeschooled”! Now, I’mPaper Writing Fiend
not a homeschooling mom and my kids are just 4 and 2 years old – and I don’t plan on homeschooling them either.

I’ve wanted to be able to stay home with my kids ever since, well…at least my first pregnancy. I wasn’t sure how we’d pull it off but the Lord has provided a way. I tried a number of things to earn extra money from home…doing childcare for others, selling Pampered Chef (nausea during pregnancy put a damper on that one), selling at a local flea market to selling on Ebay. But this year has been my BIG homeschooling year.
