Buzz A Mom: Stephanie Elie

buzz-a-mom-real3Our Buzz a mom this week is the very entertaining Stephanie Elie of BizzieMommy.com. She’s a transitional entrepreneur and mother of two children under the age of four. She was recently listed in the Power Moms 50 list by Nielsen Online, so she is definitely a mom to watch.

Tell us a little about your background and your family.stephanie-elie

I live in Southern California with my two children and husband. We have a very busy 18 month old son and a daughter who is turning 4 next week. I am currently working full-time out of the home while balancing my blog BizzieMommy.com, store LaLaBabyBoutique.com and joint venture with my sister thinkorganicbaby.com.

In your bio, you write that you hope you can inspire other hard working moms to venture out into the wahm life. What helped you make the transition from wanting to become a WAHM, to actually being one?

I’m still in transition and hoping to completely move over to wahm at the end of the year. My desire to make the transition steamed from several things actually, the birth of my son and my desire to spend more time with my kids, a layoff immediately after returning from my maternity leave and the steady growth of my online baby boutique.

I noticed in one of your recent posts that you are also interning at Sparkplugging.com. How important do you think internship/mentorship opportunities are for helping moms realize their work-at-home dreams?

For the past three years I have been going at this all alone with my husband. I was nervous about hiring a coach or mentor, because I wasn’t really sure how they could help. However, after accepting the internship at Sparkplugging.com I learned so much and still am. I think a mentor or coach can prevent costly, timely mistakes and help keep you focused on your goal. After my internship at Sparkplugging I plan on looking for a coach to help steer me in the right direction.

In a recent post, you talk about creating a vision board, and on that board you have “Oprah”. I think you’re right, in that every mom dreams of being a guest on Oprah. If Oprah had you as a guest, what is the one question you’d want her to ask you and how would you answer it?

Good Question. I have Oprah on my vision board next to my screenwriting award, so my hope is to be on Oprah because I just wrote a stellar screenplay that everyone is talking about. The one question I would want her to ask is how I manage everything I do. I would have to say with the help of my husband. I hardly give him enough credit.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

Go shop at LaLaBabyBoutique.com so I can quit my day job! Just kidding, but check us out.

Thanks, Stephanie, for the interview. I’m definitely going to buy one of the cute pregnancy shirts from La La Boutique. So adorable!
