Blogging Organization

Rosie the BloggerI’ve never been one to be terribly organized about blogging. In the beginning, my personal blog was intended to be a journal of my experiences as a mom. My whole “The Queen Mommy” thing evolved from my bossy nature (since I became a big sister), the meaning of my name (which is “honeybee”), and the incredible emotions that came along with new motherhood.

Recently, I started branching out. I worked full-time outside of our home until May of this year. As much as I wanted to stay home with my girls, the adjustment has been more difficult than I expected. I am NOT so disciplined as to keep a schedule myself – but will if one is imposed on me – so I am learning as I go and getting better… And my girls along with me.

Not having cooked consistently when I worked full-time, I’m just now getting into a comfortable routine of keeping dishes washed and meal planning. I’ve found so many resources online – so many other moms who have BEEN THERE – DONE THAT and who are willing to share their expertise – and I feel like I’m finally fitting into my Mommy “skin” as it were.

Along with that, my blogging has taken on a new life and fresh perspective and I am SOOOO enjoying myself! I started at Blog Energizer and found some free Blog Topic Idea Guide downloads. Their suggestions got my wheels turning and I found some really helpful ideas, tips, and practical suggestions to use.

For now – I’m using two templates they provided but I’ll eventually convert to my Franklin Covey organizer and keep it all in one place. I’m practicing for now, and find that actually PLANNING my blog is fun and gives me a greater sense of purpose. I just started for the month of December, but keep my planners handy for reference. I listed out several topics, ideas, and websites I wanted to feature on my blog this month and in the end, planned out my topics on the month’s calendar (tentatively) so I could always have something to blog about!

My favorite result is that I’m interviewing my own mom to talk about how she managed to survive Christmas and create so many goodies, have everything decorated so beautifully, host parties, participate in Christmas plays and musicals – with 3 school age kids – and kept from pulling her hair out!!! So, on Tuesdays this month, we’re sharing her tips & suggestions, and will be sharing family-favorite recipes, too!

Of course, I still blog about my regular mommy-happenings. Like today, for example. I posted a picture of my two girls AFTER they’d removed my makeup bag from my purse and big sister played “makeup” with little sister. sigh.

Keeping my girls entertained while I do my blogging – well, that’s something I don’t have an answer for. But I’ll keep looking!!!

I love how you say planning the posts gives you a sense of purpose. It is so true. You know I hardly thought planning my blog posts would make any difference but oh boy does it ever. It really helps with the big picture. Thanks for writing about BlogEnergizer.
