Summer is right around the corner and the looks are hot. What are you wearing this summer? Well, if it’s a belt, here are some of the latest styles.

Belts add class to an outfit by giving it that extra touch. Belts can be used to dress up blouses, shorts, skirts, pants, and dresses. Belts can be worn below the waist, at the waist, or above the waist.

The trend in belts still tends towards wide widths. If you are going to wear a belt, it might as well be seen by everyone. Patent leather belts in bold colors like yellow, red, orange, and lime green are cool. Neutral colored tops, dresses, and pants support belts with patterns like stripes, checks, and flowers.

Wide belts worn at the waistline accentuate a woman’s natural curves. If you are wearing a hip hugging dress, a wide black or brown leather belt at the waist will break up the outfit and define your waist. The color should add to the glamour of your outfit.

Belts worn below the waist add glam to cutoff shorts, mini skirts, and low-rise jeans. Big buckles, whether silver, embedded with rhinestones, or gold, draw attention to your stunning waistline. If you are spending a day with your friends, go for basic black leather with silver accoutrements. A night out with the girls demands a belt with more flash on the buckle.

Sash belts are a fashion hit as well. A high-waist dress with a sash below the breast draws attention to your bosom. In this instance, the sash should be tied in the back and be form fitting. When the sash is worn at the waist of a straight dress or as a belt on jeans, it should be loosely tied to let the dress fall naturally while giving the outline of a waist.

Tunic tops look great with a wide belt at the waist. Don’t cinch the belt to the point where the top begins to sit out at the waistline. This is unattractive. The belt should hang low if you are slim with no real waist margins. If you are curvier, the belt should sit as the waist to show off your vivaciousness.

The belt you choose should accentuate your positive features and take the attention away from the ones you want to hide. Individuals with a slightly larger tummy should avoid a belt at the waist altogether. A belt will draw the attention to the midsection where you don’t want it to be.

A belt is a great accessory. If you want your waist to gain attention, wear a wide belt or sash with flair. The name of the game is color.
