I’ve been chatting with Heather W. from Blog She Wrote about getting girls more excited about math. She had some helpful tips to share. Another “yuck” subject for a lot of girls is science. I grew up with a brother who became a scientist and I always thought science was for geeks, not to mention the yuk factor. Being a homeschooling mom hasn’t really changed things. I don’t want any part of dissections! I even found an owl pellet in our yard the other day but was too chicken to take it apart.
Your bio states that you are a former science teacher. How did you get interested in teaching science? What grades did you teach? How can we encourage girls to take an interest in science?
