Baby Gorilla Gets A New Mom

I saw the most amazing thing on Good Morning America this morning that reminded me that motherhood is about taking care of all children in need, not just your own.

It took one loving gorilla to remind me of that.

Back in December, a baby gorilla, Hasani, was born at the San Francisco Zoo. Unfortunately, his mother abandoned him, and the zoo has been trying to groom another gorilla, Bawang, to become his surrogate mother. Here is the video of their touching first contact a month ago:

If you want to see more adorable videos of Hasani and Bawang and read more about their story, please visit the San Francisco Zoo website.

Want To Be A Product Tester For Parenting Magazine?

swapbaby086Parenting Magazine needs mommies for product testing!

I just signed up. You just need to fill out a brief profile about your family (your kids’ ages) and what items you’d be interested in testing (toys, books, gear, etc.).

They review items every month, and if items pop up that relate to your profile, they may contact you to review. If you review an item, even if they don’t print your review, you get to keep it! They may even contact you for other stories to be used in Parenting Magazine or Parenting Magazine Online.

How cool is that?

Link Love: A Global Perspective

The worldVoices From Around the Globe

I have found some wonderful Link Love blogs to share with you.  What these all have in common is that they are telling their adventures of living in a country that is not their home country.

Adventures of this magnitude provide entertainment and a viewpoint that most of us will never experience.

  • Susie’s Big Adventure  Susie and her Saudi Arabian husband lived in the US for 30 years before uprooting 2 years ago for the deserts of Saudi Arabia. Her story of living in a Muslim country and adjusting to its customs are riveting.
  • Tokyo Times Lee Chapman is a fella from England who has been living in Tokyo since 1998.
  • Asian Ramblings  Stevo once braved the frozen tundra of northern Canada as a reporter and photographer. He now calls southern China home and enjoys the humid clime more than the bone-numbing cold of his native land.
  • Tokyo Girl Down Under This woman was born in London, has lived all over the world, including Tokyo where she lived before moving to Australia.
  • My Life In Scotland My Life in Scotland is Marys story of getting married & moving from the US to Scotland 3 days later.
  • Being Brazen  Being Brazen is the journal of a London gal living in Cape Town, South Africa.
  • A Canuck in Cancun  This Canadian woman went on vacation to Cancun five years ago & never went home. Now she’s married and living with her Mexican hubby & Mexi-Canadian son Max.
  • Bleeding Espresso  Michelle Fabio is the mastermind behind Bleeding Espresso in which an American finds love, her roots, and a coffee addiction in southern Italy.

I hope you enjoy this virtual trip around the glog as much as I have!
