Summer of Service for Your Teen

community-serviceDo you have a warm-hearted teen who would love to help their community this summer? Or do you have a teen you’d like to keep busy this summer so they can’t run up the credit card bill at the mall?

If you answered “Yes!” to either of those questions, then the Summer of Service program may be just what you’re looking for.

Back in April, the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act was signed into law, which created the Summer of Service program for 6th-12th graders to engage in service-learning opportunities in their community.  Teens will have to commit hours of their time over the summer months (June 22-September 11), but they’ll learn problem solving and life skills while promoting improvement in their own communities.   [Read more...]

Work-At-Home-Mom Link Love

42-15232843This week, my link love post is devoted to helping moms who want to work from home but have no idea how to get started.  I’m a newbie at this as well, but I think I’ve found some great links.

If you haven’t signed up for the Hot Seminar Series, then definitely do so.  During the series successful WAHMs discuss how they got started in different WAHM careers, and it’s only $10.  A HUGE deal.  And while you’re at it, check out Mom Masterminds, a very supportive online community for WAHMs.

You may want to start reading some good WAHM blogs and start searching some work from home job search databases to see what types of WAHM jobs are out there.

But, if you’re fairly certain of what you’d like to do, then you should find a mentor and perfect your resume and interviewing skills.  Good luck!

This busy mom’s mission in life is to help you help your family, so sit back, relax, and read about this remarkable woman.buzz-a-mom-real2

Tell us a little about your background and your family.

I come from a Hispanic background which can probably explain my stubbornness:) For as long as I could remember I wanted to help others, at one point I wanted to join the Peace Corp. After my mom almost had a heart-attack from that news, I decided it was best for me to stay in this country:) I then chose the next best thing..becoming a Doctor. Being the health nut that I am I decided to go to Chiropractic School. [Read more...]
