Pamper Yourself on a Budget

Green times 10
5 Ways to Pamper Yourself Without Breaking The Bank

  • A bottle of nail polish can work wonders.  Pick a fun funky color you wouldn’t normally wear on your fingers and do up your toes.  Flip flop weather is here, so get crazy!
  • No money for meditation at the spa?  Find a local park, take a lunch, take a book, take a walk.
  • Could you’re face use a little lift?  Make a quick, homemade facelift from your kitchen.
  • Budget too tight for the tanning booth?  Try the new breed of tanning lotions.  Unlike the streaky orange mess of years past, brands like Jergens have lotions that you use daily to build slowly to a nice glow.
  • What about this year’s must read beach books?  I go every couple of weeks to a big book store, make a list of all the titles that look fab & log on to request them from my local library network.  I may have to wait a week or two, but it sure beats paying around $15.00 per book.

What are your frugal tips for making yourself feel special?

The Right Dog For Your Family

Dig those > < shaped ears! Looks like chicken wings! The Timing Is Right

Spring is a great time to get a dog for your household.  The warm weather lends itself to potty training your pup, along with getting in the habit of walking him and spending playtime outdoors.

Research Your Breeds

There are so many variables here, you really need to take time to do your research.  Do you have enough room for a large breed?  Do you have enough time to devote to a puppy?  Are there small children in your house that could accidentally harm a toy breed?

I truly believe that the best place to start your search is the American Kennel Club.  Their breed information pages will get you a great start to learning about the size, temperament & characteristics of any breed.  Even if you’re looking for a mixed breed dog, knowing about the characteristics of the breeds in the mix is helpful. Cute Swimwear For Moms Who Hate Swimsuits

barbie_surfer_girl_11Woo Hoo!  Is everyone excited that it’s finally swimsuit season? Um…NOT!!!

Swimsuit is a four letter word in my book, as I really don’t see the difference between wearing a two-piece swimsuit and a bra and panties set.

And why do guys get to cover more skin than women? So unfair! We’re the ones that jiggle.

And after becoming a mom, we jiggle even more.  Since you’re reading this blog, I’m assuming you’ve had a baby. After having a baby, my body hasn’t gone back to what it once was, and I’m sure yours hasn’t either. And if it has, then you’re a genetic freak, and the rest of us hate envy you. [Read more...]

Memorial Day Link Love

Memorial DayWhen most people think of Memorial Day, they think of BBQs, swimming pools, and a lazy day away from work and school. But, while we should enjoy the food and fun, we should also take some time to remember those who’ve fallen in service to our country.

Below are some links that I’ve found to make this Memorial Day fun, festive, patriotic, and safe.

At momlogic, they list some fun and patriotic activities for everyone, young and old. My favorite idea is the kid parade.

Are you a craft person? Want to get the kids involved? At favecraftsblog, they have patriotic crafts not only for mom, but for the kids as well. It would be great to make safety pin flags and hand them out at your Memorial Day BBQ.

Unless it’s raining, everyone will be trying their best to have the best BBQ in the neighborhood. I was in awe when I saw these delicious recipes at andreasrecipes. The pictures alone are worth the look. And if you’re looking for a low-cost, but high-flavor option, check out these scrumptious hot dog toppings .

I know when we party, we tend to forget the important stuff. Try to make your Memorial Day a green day, and always remember SAFETY FIRST! Water safety is so important and I love Mary’s idea for a water card.

And please do something to remember the fallen. You can do something as simple as lighting a candle in remembrance. I was teary-eyed after reading roofwithaview’s post about the meaning of Memorial Day. She shows us what some military families are going through, and links to some nice ways to remember what this day is all about.

Have fun and be safe!
