Making Christmas Count

It’s that time of year and we are all worrying about the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.  Likely we’re getting wrapped up in the parties, the gifts, the trimmings not to mention the food.  But, have you stopped to think about those who are less fortunate than you that may not have all those many things to look forward to, maybe none of them at all.

There are many ways during the holiday season that you can reach out to others.  Especially those whom are less fortunate than you.  So, before you get caught up in all that is going on during this happy time of year, take the time to remember those whose holiday may not be all that happy and do something for them which will make this season a little more joyful.

Fix a meal and take it to a needy family,  send a shoebox to a child around the globe who has never received a Christmas gift, serve in a local soup kitchen, buy an angel off an Angel tree to sponsor a local child’s Christmas.  Give, give of your time, give of  yourself.  Just give, and allow someone to share the joy that you have during this most important time of year.

Family Activities For All Ages

LostFamily time is becoming an activity that is rarely seen these days with both parents working and not enough time to spend with the kids. In many homes these days, children are booked with activities spanning from school, to sports to church and parents are busy with work. It seems that it gets harder and harder to schedule valuable family time.

Well, it’s time to change that. Even though life seems hectic and you may feel this just can’t be done; it is possible if you put your mind to it. Find at least one night a week where all of you can get together and do something fun as a family. If you’re new to the family night thing and don’t know what to do; here are some ideas to help you get started (and there are more in my instantly downloadable guide, Real Life Guidance to Finding More Family Time):

The Techy’s Accessories

So, you don’t think your techy needs a new Ipod but they would enjoy some new accessories, but you aren’t sure what is best.  A couple favorites among Ipod users include this I Trip Auto FM Transmitter and charger and these sound isolating earphones.  I promise they’ll give you rave reviews as a gift buyer and a big thank you for either of these rocking accessories.

The I-trip allows them to take their Ipod tunes in the car and play them straight through the car speakers, while the earphones give them the ability to quietly listen to their tunes or podcasts without interrupting anyone else and also allows them to drown out their screaming kids or all the noise in the crowd around them if they are out for coffee and want to listen to their favorite podcast while they enjoy their cup.

Can;t you see why any Ipod owner would love to receive these fine accessories?

Teach Children Life Skills By Delegating Chores

A few generations ago, children were commonly expected to help around the house. When society was A Baby's Work is Never Done
mainly based on agricultural endeavors, children were expected to help around the farm as well. Our society has changed and so has our expectation of our children. Learning to delegate household chores to children can benefit both the children and the parents.

Let’s admit it, mom and dad work hard all day. Facing household chores in the evening can take away time that should be spent with kids, stress you out or just add another burden to your otherwise overloaded to do list – something I talk about extensively in Getting out of the SuperMom Trap. Delegating household chores between all the occupants of the house seems only fair. There are jobs around the house even the smallest child can do.
