WW Confession Time

I skipped my WW meeting last Thursday.  I was all caught up in Moms Affiliate Expo and just felt like I needed a little downtime more than I needed to drive into Lansing for the meeting.  My sis was having a busy day too so she wasn’t sad to let it go.

The last thing I said to her was ‘Don’t worry – I’ll still be good!‘.

Ha!

Friday night...pizza nightI was doing fine – until we spent five hours in the ER with Sean’s sore eye which turned out to be a damaged cornea – no wonder he was in so much pain :(   On the way home I picked up McDonald’s for breakfast – which is terribly high in points.

Then we spent part of the weekend taking care of my nieces babies and daughter.  For some reason I could not keep out of the kitchen.  I had shopped for WW friendly foods and snacks to take with us so that I wouldn’t be tempted to cheat – but even though all my snacking was on ‘low fat’ foods, I way over did it.

To make matters worse – on Sunday afternoon we ordered pizza.  *sigh* [Read more...]

Being a mom is the most glorious thing in the world but how do you feel:

Considering Becoming an eBay Trading Assistant?

This article was written by Guest Blogger Jennifer Cangelosi of Boutique Bargains.

Way back, when my eBay curiosity was in its experimental stage, I tried a few different things to bring in extra cash – without spending a ton of money upfront.

Junk in My TrunkOne strategy I tried was becoming a registered Trading Assistant on eBay. I found that it was a great way to learn what was selling on eBay for a decent profit, what was good for donating to charities, and what was best to bring to the consignment shop. After all, some money is better than no money at all. By doing a ton of research and some trial and error, the development of a trained eye had emerged. Also, my repeat business of clients wanting to sell their things on eBay was pretty steady.

Here are some helpful tips that you may benefit from if you decide to become an eBay Trading Assistant:

Like any business, knowing upfront that it will take time to build & become successful is a good mind set to get into. You’re never guaranteed to rake in the big bucks. It can be tough at times and it’s certainly not for everyone.

Can it be done? Of Course!

Do You Live In A New Urban Community?

There’s a craze sweeping the nation called New Urbanism and it could hit your community next. Never heard of it? The concept is simple.

New Urbanism is the movement that encourages families to live, work, and play in or very near their home community. What better way to meet your neighbors or to strike up a conversation with the bank teller. Some towns across the country are building planned neighborhoods which allow neighbors to share landscaped courtyards together and allow families to walk to the neighborhood store safely together.

Sharon McMillan is the host of the New Urban Mom podcast and she recently posted the Top 10 New Urban Communities for Fall 2008. The list is complete with photos and details of these new urban communities, including housing prices and unique features of each community.

“One of the great things about new urbanism is that it supports your market’s desire to work from home and to have the community structures in place to make working from home sustainable,” McMillan says.

Not only are many families suffering from the daily grind of commuting but your local businesses also tend to struggle. For every commuter who works out of town, they are losing potential business.
