Get The Junk Food Out Now!

This post is written by Guest Blogger LaTara Ham-Ying of Vegan Meal Helper.

Does your family snack too much on junky foods? Are you ready to clean your pantry of all the junk that sits waiting for you to consume it and fill your body with toxic ingredients like sugar and salt? In determining what needs to go, you have to take the time to look into the pantry and find all foods that are processed, hydrogenated, and artificial and even some things that have a long shelf life.

Fruit juiceOne for the first items you will want to remove is those packets of Kool Aid and other dry juice mix products. Unless they are made from whole fruit, you can forget any nutrition being a part of it. Juice is not a big thing in my home. I make fresh lemonade, herbal teas, and hibiscus punch.

Green tea has many beneficial antioxidant effects which help fight disease in the body and as an extra bonus has been shown to help speed up weight loss. Every now and then we buy juice but it is always 100% with no extra additives.

A wise thing to keep in mind with juice is that frozen brands of juice have more 100% versions than the bottled. [Read more...]

God and the Grocery Store

This post has been written by Mom’s Talk Network owner, Kelly McCausey.

I have to smile some days at how God works in my life.

I started a diet about two weeks ago. It’s a loose combination of Weight Watchers and Slimfast. I know I should be cooking fresh meals, but my world is crazy right now so I need things to be as simple and ‘grab n go’ as it can get while keeping me out of the drive thru at McDonalds.

I pray now and then about losing weight and I ask God to help me eat right and do what I should but I’m not always good at listening to His advice on the matter on a day in day out fashion.

Grocery shopping

Today, He made his message come through loud and clear.

I’ve been ‘mostly good’ on my diet. I did go to Carrabas earlier this week and enjoyed bread and herbs with olive oil along with a delicious chicken meal. I didn’t go over the top and happily brought home a big doggy bag. (Which by the way, Sean devoured for lunch the next day.) Since then I’ve stuck pretty close to plan.

This morning, I headed out to run a few errands. I had an affiliate check to cash and decided to use that money to go grocery shopping. [Read more...]

We’re Having A Party!!

Welcome to the Artsy Mamas Blog Party!

As busy moms, we usually do not take much time for ourselves. We’re busy with our kids, our homes, or our jobs.

But this week we’re focusing on ourselves and what makes us unique and fun. To be included in this event, simply create one blog post about art, being a creative mama, living life authentically, self-esteem, what you “used to do” before you were a mama, wanting to be a creative mama, Artsy Mamas the organization, or anything else that might relate to arts and motherhood.

Once you create your post, come back to Mom’s Talk Network and fill in your post link below. Feel free to grab a copy of the graphic, too! Then you can travel around the web and visit, meet, and possibly be inspired by these other moms. It’s great fun and you’ll get new visitors to your blog, too.

Many thanks to Mandy Ray-Jones of Artsy Mamas for proposing the idea and for creating the cool graphic. This list of links will continue to grow during the week so be sure to come back during the week to see the new additions!

Now, on your mark, get set, go blog hopping!!

Developing Positive Self Esteem as Women

By Guest Blogger Aurelia Williams of Real Life Coaching.

Self-esteem is defined as “pride in oneself; self-respect.” So often we hear stories of young girls having low self esteem or they see themselves as not worthy of respect due to a variety of factors. This mindset often stays with them throughout their lives and can hinder their career success as well as hinder their relationship skills.

Rather than living a life of self-hatred, women need access to tools which can be used to develop pride, self-respect, and self-esteem. One unique tool is to utilize the services of a life coach.

A life coach is an objective third party who can provide an honest viewpoint of ways to enhance or change your life. Rather than relying on girlfriends who may be biased one way or the other or who might not tell you the cold, hard truth, trust a life coach to mentor you as you face difficult decisions and to help you evolve into the person you have always dreamed of being. All Natural Products I Would Rather NOT Live Without

This is Part 1 of a series by Guest Blogger Mandy Ray-Jones of Artsy Mamas and Bona Fide Mama

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmers: For as long as I’ve worn a bra, I’ve been a sucker for making my lips pretty. You won’t find me sporting mascara or even foundation, but I’m never fully dressed without a smile. And for me, a smile means something shiny on my lips. Now that I’ve stopped putting chemicals on my body, I’m excited that there is a product on the market that is affordable and readily available. You can find Lip Shimmers at Target and Walgreens! My personal favorite shade is Toffee!

Agave Nectar: I have tried to give up sugar. It’s not gone too well but at least now I’m able to face the challenge with some hope thanks to Agave Nectar, the sweet syrup that comes from the same plant which brings us tequila. The first time I tasted it, I felt as if I’d died and gone to sugary sweet heaven. Seriously, it tastes like cotton candy and I’m not making that up. You can put it in anything. You can bake with it. You can sweeten your coffee with it. What’s even better than the way it tastes is that it’s safe for diabetics and is much lower in calories than sugar. When you investigate this product, you will see that there are several types. I’ve tried them all and they are all wonderful!

All natural progesterone cream: First of all, I’d like to reiterate that I am NOT a doctor and that I would never suggest you take my advice without first checking with a medical professional. Just be aware that this product exists and mention it to your doctor the next time you visit with him or her! [Read more...]
