Restaurant Reviews – Outback Steakhouse

The food is fabulous down under, Mate!

Going to Outback Steakhouse is a real treat for the family. Their menu includes a section for kids with special items they can enjoy. Being kids, both of my boys enjoy the burgers. They cut the sandwiches in half to eat them because they are so large.

My husband and I enjoy the Queensland Chicken and Shrimp or the Jackeroo chops. The food is scrumptious but a little pricey. We only dine there on special occasions.

The wait for seating can be from thirty to forty-five minutes on the weekends so be prepared. “Call ahead” seating helps to avoid a lengthy wait. Overall, Outback Steakhouse welcomes families. Everyone will enjoy the dining experience. Don’t forget the dessert!

Restaurant Reviews – Olive Garden

Take the family to Olive Garden

My family enjoys eating at the Olive Garden. My husband and I, and our two children, ages fifteen and eighteen like the comfortable atmosphere, the pleasant background music, the soft lighting, and the warm and comfortable decor. We also like the fact that it is a family restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and is child friendly.

Mostly, it’s the food that entices my husband inside the Olive Garden. He knows the menu by heart, yet each time we visit my husband carefully studies the menu as if he’s going over the financial or sports page.

Being a bread lover, I love to treat myself to the breadsticks.
Although my favorite dish is Chicken Marsalis, my husband likes to order any variety of the pasta meals. Our children usually order pizza or spaghetti and we all love to sample the desserts.

The only negative would be the long wait for a table, but for the most part it has and is a pleasurable dining experience.

Restaurant Reviews – IHOP

The International House of Pancakes

IHOP has long been a favorite restaurant of mine. They always add new items to keep their menu fresh. To keep kids calm at the table, the hostess gives each child an activity placemat and crayons. The back of the placemat doubles as a kid’s menu.

Since breakfast is served all day, my oldest son prefers chocolate chip pancakes with whipped topping. My youngest has so many favorites that he orders something different each time.

The tables and booths are spacious enough to allow for big groups. IHOP is open twenty-four hours which makes it perfect for eating out late. The wait for seating can be twenty or thirty minutes on a busy day. But, my family feels that the low prices and menu variety are worth the wait.

Restaurant Reviews – Cracker Barrel

Taking the Family to Cracker Barrell on Sunday Afternoon.

The Cracker Barrel restaurant is located in the back of a general store. Patrons are invited to browse the store filled with nostalgic candy and tons of toys while they wait. If you prefer not to browse, you can sit in oversized rocking chairs outside.

Cracker Barrel is the place to bring the family on Sunday afternoon. Breakfast is served all day and the dinner menu is filled with old-fashioned favorites like chicken and dumplings.

My kids enjoy the chicken fingers and fries or the Breakfast Sampler. The kids play a small board game available at each table to keep them occupied while they wait for food. Cracker Barrel’s prices are reasonable for a family of four. If you like the game or the maple syrup both can be purchased in the store.

Restaurant Reviews – Applebees

Applebees in the neighborhood…

Applebee’s has good food at reasonable prices and a family friendly atmosphere. The wait staff is knowledgeable about the menu items and if our server is not around, another member of the staff is always willing to help. The menu offers low-fat meal choices for me and sandwiches that the kids like.

My fourteen year old likes to order the barbeque chicken sandwich with fries. My eleven year old likes the burgers at Applebee’s with all the extras. The portion sizes are generous considering the low prices. My son never finishes a whole burger in one sitting. If I had one complaint it would be that there is not enough maneuvering room at the table when the tables surrounding you are occupied. For family dining that won’t stretch the budget, I recommend Applebee’s.

Another Review:

Applebees offers a variety of dishes on the menu which appeal to the whole family. The warm, casual decor adds to the pleasure of dining out and the friendly, professional service was a bonus. On our son’s 10th birthday, we took the family out to celebrate. Because it was a special occasion, we also included our energetic 10 month old daughter, and were pleased by the dedicated waitress who swiftly brought us a high chair.

We started out with 10 pieces of Buffalo Chicken wings – our son’s favorite and ours too! Since the wings came with a generous heap of celery and dipping sauce, we got our veggies the easy way! My husband and I are both watching our weight, so we ordered from the Weight watchers menu and enjoyed a grilled shrimp skewer salad as the main course.

Applebee’s has a great kid’s menu which includes perennial favorites like macaroni and cheese, burgers and kid’s pasta. You can order mouth watering dessert and we picked the Triple Chocolate Meltdown, a super moist chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. Check out the nearest Applebee’s in your neighborhood- and take the family!
